• ฝั่งแคลิฟอร์เนีย จอยซ์พาครอบครัวบายเออร์ส (โจนาธาน วิล) และแอล มาเริ่มต้นชีวิตใหม่ในเมืองเลโนรา ฮิลส์ รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย แอลพยายามใช้ชีวิตเป็นเด็กสาวธรรมดาในชื่อ “เจน” แต่เธอยังทำใจเรื่องการสูญเสียพ่อบุญธรรม (ฮอปเปอร์) ไม่ได้ แถมตอนนี้เธอไม่มีพลังพิเศษแล้ว ทำให้กลายเป็นเหยื่อถูกกลั่นแกล้งที่โรงเรียน วิลเองก็มีท่าทีซึมๆ เก็บตัว โจนาธานติดเพื่อนใหม่ที่ชื่ออาร์ไกล์และดูไม่ค่อยสนใจเรื่องอนาคตตัวเอง จอยซ์ได้รับพัสดุปริศนาส่งมาจากรัสเซีย เป็นตุ๊กตาไม้ที่ภายในซ่อนข้อความบอกใบ้ว่า
